Teaching and Research

I am a Ph.D. candidate studying Health Education and I am specifically interested in sexual health. I have taught sexuality courses at Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky. Additionally, I have taught health based courses at the University of Kentucky and Transylvania University.

Comprehensive sexuality education is a human right

Scientifically accurate information that focuses on topics such as:

Human development
Anatomy
Reproductive health
Contraceptives
Prevention of STIs
Healthy and effective communication
Consent
Gender identity and sexual orientation

Abortion is healthcare

People obtaining abortion are entitled to privacy, dignity, respect, and support
Where abortion is illegal or highly restricted, people resort to unsafe means to end pregnancies
Travel expenses, the additional costs of multiple nights in a hotel, lack of paid time off from work, and mandatory wait periods make it difficult for people to travel for an abortion.

Sexuality is a fundamental part of being human

Sexuality is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing in relation to sexuality
Sexual rights are based on the inherent freedom, dignity, and equality of all human beings and include a commitment to protection from harm
Everyone has the right to control and decide freely on matters related to their sexuliaty and body

ACCESS TO QUALITY AND AFFORDABLE SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE

Everyone deserves access to sexual and reproductive healthcare such as:

Access to contraceptives and emergency contraception
Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infection
Availability of sterilization for individuals if they so choose
Access to abortion
Regularly scheduled physicals, which include breast and pelvic exams
Access to pre- and post-exposure HIV medicine
Access to menstrual products
